Floor grinding represents one of the most challenging applications for source extraction. The grinding discs used on floor grinders are highly abrasive and generate large quantities of fine dust. In fact, up to 100 litres of dust can be generated every hour, which can cause serious damage to the health of those who inhale the fine particles.

Airborne dust and particulate waste from manufacturing, engineering and food processes are increasingly unacceptable in today's facilities when trying to achieve an efficient working environment. If physical concerns over product quality and environmental health are not enough, external pressures from COSHH and the recent ATEX regulations only go to build on the burden of having to maintain clean and healthy workplaces.

Dust is a major issue in the food industry due to the prevalent presence of harmful airborne particles, which, while problematic for workers' long-term health when inhaled, can also pose serious risks further down the line for consumers.

The dangers of dust in any workplace environment are well documented. From a business point of view, a build-up of dust can negatively impact productivity and potentially harm the quality of a product through contamination. While from a health perspective, regularly inhaling dust can cause respiratory illnesses and diseases.
