Controlling dust to create a safe working environment

HSE is launching a campaign throughout October to ensure workplaces have the correct measures in place to protect workers from harmful silica dust – which takes approximately 500 lives every year.

The problem

Activities such as drilling, sweeping, pouring, or grinding cause fine dust to become airborne and subsequently inhaled, which can lead to various long-term respiratory conditions such as bronchitis and emphysema.

The solution

Dust can be captured via on-tool dust extraction. This is effectively an LEV that is fitted directly onto the tool, comprising a captor hood, fitted hose, and vacuum extraction unit, such as our DC 2900c eco.

Complimentary background air cleaners, such as our DC AirCube 2000, can circulate clean air back into an area used for dust-creating activities, providing even greater extraction efficiency.

What does good look like?

At Dustcontrol UK, we adopt a no-compromise approach. All of our machines are manufactured to application Class H standard with a pre-filter and HEPA-13 filter to cover a wide range of applications, ensuring a healthier, cleaner working environment.
